David Lane is well known to many local art enthusiasts and is best known for his vibrant and colourful seascapes, however his ability to capture colour and light in his subjects is also reflected in his delightful landscapes and still lifes.

Before moving to northern New South Wales in the seventies David undertook a Diploma of painting at the National Art School, East Sydney. He was then based in London for two years, painting and travelling in Europe. During this time, he also completed Ceramics Introduction and 3D Drawing at South London College.

In 1984 David won the prestigious Canberra Times National Art Award and subsequently won several awards and purchase prizes. His paintings are represented in numerous collections throughout Australia and overseas.

David has been painting and exhibiting from his studio in Tintenbar for over forty years. Regional New South Wales and in particular the glorious waterways and beaches which surround his studio in Tintenbar are a strong visual magnet for his work. His paintings seek to capture the beauty and serenity of our region. His love of all things in nature and the sustaining nature of our oceans is evident in his local seascapes and landscapes.
